The Best Double Buggy Strollers

A double buggy is perfect for twins who are due or have two children of different ages. The best ones are simple to maneuver and handle rough surfaces and kerbs.

These vehicles also come with features such as large sun canopy and transparent hoods, as well as adjustable seats.

1. Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Double

The City Tour 2 Double stroller is the smallest of the Baby Jogger range. It's designed for travel and easily fits through doors with its narrow design, it's also one of the lightest double buggies on the market, weighing just 14lbs when folded. This makes it perfect for traveling with a toddler and newborn as you won't be exceeding the allowances for luggage on airlines. It also folds up to the size of a bag for travel so you can tuck it away in the back of your car when it's not being used.

The one-handed Z-shape fold is easy to fold and is extremely compact once you master it and takes only a few seconds to unfold. However, our tester discovered the auto lock to be a little confusing. As the handlebar doesn't lock to its place when you press it, it landed on her legs when she used it. She also felt the handlebar was a little on the short side particularly with a large changing bag hanging off it.

As opposed to other light travel buggies, this doesn't skimp on features and is among the most comprehensive double strollers that are available. It's compatible with two carry cots (available separately) It also offers multiple recline positions, and a UV 50+ canopy. You can put a bassinet on either or both seats to make this a travel system.

The four composite wheels made of rubber are ideal for pavements as well as urban terrain however they're not made for off-roading. They struggled with long grass and gravel and there's not much space between the wheel and the bracket so mud was able to get stuck easily. However our testers still enjoyed riding this buggy, and it did climb some beautiful dirt hills.

2. iCandy Orange

The iCandy Orange double buggy is the ultimate in style, versatility and quality. It is an essential item for parents who want a chic and durable double buggy that will last. The Orange is a stunning sleek, lightweight chassis with a huge basket that easily fits two car seats. It comes with a gorgeous adjustable water repellent and ventilated canopy with mesh ventilation. It comes in trend-led colours - Pistachio, Fossil, Latte and Rose on the Jet Black frame. There's also the possibility of a built-in riding on board for older sibling to join in the fun.

The 2021 update comes with several changes, that improve manoeuvrability as well as an even better, larger shopping basket that has been redesigned with a bumper bar and leatherette cover. The seats are moulded and are really comfortable. They're also adjustable, so they can be set to suit siblings' needs. iCandy has included the first-ever "cinema seating" design that allows parents to keep eye contact between both children. They can be adjusted so that they face the parent or the world.

It's a heavier buggie in tandem, however, it's very easy to drive and use particularly on smooth roads. It's stable in double and single mode, and even on sloping ground. It's not as simple to use on public transport as it requires two hands to hold the handlebar. It is also bulky and will not fit into a standard car boot with the seat in place, but this can be overcome by careful planning. iCandy has included an infant footmuff and a changing bag included in the price, so this is an excellent value package for new parents.

3. Joie Evalite Duo

The swivel wheels on front and four-wheel suspension enable it to maneuver over uneven or rough terrain.

It comes with a secure, one-click fold, and is compatible with a wide range of Joie infant car seats. It comes with a large basket and comfortable seats for the kids. The only drawback is that the front seat doesn't recline completely, which can be a problem for babies. It is a great option to consider if you're seeking a light and low-cost stroller.

4. Cybex Gazelle S

This is the stroller you need if you are expecting twins. It's the first travel system from Cybex and comes with built-in adaptors that make it simple to convert from a single pushchair into a double. The adaptors on the upper end can slide up and down to match your height while the lower ones can be twisted around and rotated which makes it a breeze to change from one configuration to another. The Gazelle's seat units recline to a flat position, and also have an extended large UV 50+ sun canopy which is essential for little ones.

This is the futuristic, multi-purpose stroller that can adapt to the needs of your family. It is suitable from the time of birth as a mono-pushchair. It can be used from four years as a double pushchair, with the addition of a CLOUD Z iSize car seat, a second seat unit or Gazelle Cot. The new safety harness with one-pull allows you to easily secure your child, even when you are wearing your baby on your back.

In contrast to most double strollers, the Gazelle S folds down compactly with both seats firmly attached, making it easy to squeeze into storage spaces at the home or in your trunk. A large lower basket can hold up to 25 lbs. of shopping, everyday essentials, or food items. A detachable basket for shopper's offers an additional space. 5. Nipper Double V5

The Nipper Double V5 from Out 'n' About is a refreshed version of the award-winning all-terrain buggie. It is specifically designed for twins or other siblings and features independent reclining chairs, compatibility with carrycots and lightweight frame that allows to allow for easy maneuverability on bumpy terrain.

The adjustable height handle and rear wheel suspension ensure an enjoyable ride for children up to 22kg. The durable pneumatic tyres, which are easy to clean, offer a smooth ride when running. The 360-swivel front wheel can be locked into place for easier manoeuvring around town, and the one pedal brake that locks easily is simple to use.

Our test participants found that the Nipper Double was incredibly easy to manoeuvre, even when taking on uneven ground or when turning swiftly in a busy street. They were also awed by the fact that both seats recline independently, which means they can be adjusted to meet individual needs - ideal for napping.

They also loved that the hoods were able to be moved forward and back, which made them easier to adjust to the sun or for wind protection. They didn't provide the same coverage as Baby Jogger City Mini Hoods. It's probably worth having an extra rain cover in case.

Overall, our test participants were impressed with the Nipper double's ability allow them to take their twin daughters Sydney and Lyla to all sorts of adventures. From exploring the forest for wildlife to rushing to a park to play with their friends they were thrilled. The testers were also impressed by how comfortable and spacious the two seats are. There is plenty of room for toddlers who are growing. The lack of parent facing seating and the inability to use a car seat with this buggy were noted as a problem by our testers. They would also have wanted a bigger storage space for shopping and other gear.
